Sole-proprietor supply chain consulting firm under contract to Wared Logistics, a Saudi Arabian joint venture with 1100+ employees, operations in five countries, and 2009 revenues of $35 million

General Manager

Report directly to Wared CEO with responsibility for seamless integration of IT operations across four   business units, 16 offices, and five countries, including the United Kingdom and the Middle East/Northern Africa region (MENA). Develop policies and procedures; evaluate existing systems and processes; identify improvements to accommodate long-range needs and potential corporate acquisitions. Oversee design and creation of the firm's IT backbone and network infrastructure, which encompasses a unified financial ERP application as well as RedPrairie Warehouse Management and Transportation Management systems. Manage four direct reports and two subcontractors; currently in the process of hiring 11 approved positions. Administer combined annual operating and capital expense budget of ~ $4 million.

§  Designed and implemented a comprehensive IT infrastructure, including redundant data centers, Wide Area Network (WAN), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and multiple servers; centralized staff within the Jeddah Data Center. These efforts:

-        Reduced costs by 20%.

-        Increased helpdesk productivity by 35%.

§  Evaluated, selected, and installed a financial ERP system and other enterprise applications including:

-        MS Dynamics for standardized accounts, procedures, and reporting.

-        RedPrairie Transportation (TMS) and Warehousing (WMS) systems, which reduced the order-to-cash cycle by 15 days.

-        Telargo’s Fleet Management system for real-time shipment information.

-        An international calling solution that lowered conference call expenses between the U.S./Saudi Arabia and U.S./U.K. by 2,200+% and 4,500+%, respectively.  

-        Engage B2B and SalesForce.com for multi-channel marketing and campaign automation.

 

Verst Group Logistics, Walton, KY, 2006 to 2008

Warehousing and distribution company with 1850+ employees and gross revenues of $125 million

Director. Integrated Logistics Solutions

Charged with increasing sales for integrated logistics services: analyzed data; identified customer requirements; prepared RFP responses; provided user training and on-going support. Simultaneously directed application development employees (two direct reports supplemented by project-specific staff as needed); administered $1 million annual operating budget.

§  Led design, development, and implementation of a proprietary supply chain solution (VSCS) with order optimization, electronic load tendering, freight bill audit and payment services, and online shipment tracking. The application:

-        Mitigated risks associated with the upcoming acquisition of the company's previous TMS provider (CSC FreightLink).

-        Provided online access to inventory, logistics, and shipment status.

-        Offered clients enhanced data mining opportunities.

-        Integrated seamlessly with third-party software such as Gentrans EDI, PC-Miler, PeopleNet, and Microsoft Dynamics GP.

§  Generated an additional $6 million in revenue by managing multi-year, multi-location supply chain projects for corporate clients that included the Steelcraft Division of Ingersoll Rand and Valassis, the single largest USPS customer (at the time mailing 70 million pieces per week) and provider of RedPlum media portfolio. VSCS enabled Valassis to lower postage expenses by an:

-        Initial $.01 per piece.

-        Additional $350,000 annually with the implementation of Verst's Postage Optimization Decision Support System (PODSS) enhancement that leveraged USPS discounts and delivery rerouting capabilities to further reduce costs.

§  Managed marketing campaign that resulted in Verst Group Logistics' recognition as a 2007 Top 100 3PL in 2007 by Inbound Logistics magazine.

§  Participated in a 1999 emergency holiday implementation to salvage online orders that threatened to overwhelm PlanetOutdoors.com. The four-day, around-the-clock project resulted in:

-        The firm's ability to double order volume to 600 per day.

-        A 30% productivity increase.

-        A 12-hour reduction in order cycle time.

-        An order fill rate of 99.95%.
